Large growth for online food in Finland

It is becoming increasingly popular to buy food on the web in Finland. But still, Finns spend a very small share of their food budget online.

Kauppalehti has looked into the online sales numbers of the largest grocery companies. Finns spend 16-17 billion of food annually. The share of online sales is only about 20-30 million euros.

The market leader S Group’s trading online grew by 66 percent last year. At the beginning of the year, sales increased by 50 percent. Kesko has increased their food sales six times on the web. K-stores started to invest in web business last fall.

So far online sales is a loss and in an establishing phase. FNB writes that hains are now investigating consumer preferences.
