Lidl to focus on HR-development

Lidl continue to be successful in Finland. Last year, the chain made a profit of 78 million EUR.

But the management chose to focus on improving the organization.

“We in a relatively short period of time managed to create a good example of a comprehensive store network, well-functioning suppliers, transportation companies and other partners – it’s all consisting of a network of cooperation speaking to a range of customers. This has required and will continue to need high skilled know-how and marketing professionals who enjoy their work,” says CEO Lauri Sipponen.

Lidl Finland reports increased sales in line with the extension of the fiscal year  3.1.2014 – 28.02.2015 to 1358.5 million with only two new stores opened.

The company’s plans for the coming years include an expansion of the store network and a third distribution center and a number of HR-initiatives.

“We intend to continue on this path, that is to invest in the maintenance and development of staff skills. The company’s growth, the importance of staff competence and motivation to grow in their work. I believe that investing in education is the best investment in our company, which is reflected not only in customer service but also job satisfaction and commitment, “says Sami Pyykösen.
